OUR STORY
Clair de Lune’s origins can be traced back to Europe where our ancestors opened a small bakery in 1898. The recipe and the process of baking the cookies have been refined over generations to a point where we believe they are perfect. We remain beholden to this strong tradition and are proud to share a delicacy with you that can stand up to any European pastry. We hope that you enjoy them as much as we do

Esther Buss

, Founder and Chief Baker of Chateau Bakery:
Esther started baking when she was 5 years old, initially learning from her great aunt, whose house always smelled of freshly baked cookies. Prior to moving to the U.S. in 2003, Esther lived in Germany, France, and Spain, where she kept adding on to her recipe collection, refining and enhancing along the way
As a mother of two and accomplished business woman, Esther had plenty of opportunities for baking: cookie exchanges at the office, potluck birthday lunches with the team, bake sales and the frequent need for teachers' and hostess gifts were welcome excuses to break out the apron and fire up the oven. Her Clair de Lune cookies quickly developed a reputation for their unique and addictive taste and texture, which motivated Esther to follow her passion and start her own business
Esther founded

Chateau Bakery

in 2014 after a successful career in Consumer Marketing. A seasoned customer analytics professional, she started her career at Europe’s largest Internet and Mail Order Retailer. In the U.S., she helped Tea Collection, a San Francisco based premium children’s clothing company, with their customer acquisition and retention strategy using big data analytics. Through these consumer focused experiences, Esther built a strong commitment to quality and customer service which are the very foundation of
